9.2.2010 – Chess Lessons and National Youth / Junior Squad Trainings
Please note that all lessons including National Youth & Junior squad trainings this weekend
(12, 13, 14 February) will be suspended due to the Lunar New Year Holidays. Classes and Trainings
will resume from 19 February 2010. Happy Lunar new Year.
6.1.2010 – National Youth / Junior Squad Term 1 / 2010 – Groupings
Due to the large number of late registrations, the announcement will now be made on
7 January 2010 at 7.30 pm. By and large, trainees should be able to secure the timings of their
choice.
12.12.2009 – Appointment of Technical Director
We are pleased to announce the appointment of FST (FIDE Senior Trainer) and IM (International Master)
Jovan Petronic to the position of SCF Technical Director from 1 December 2009.
Mr Petronic brings along with him many years of expereinces as a Chess trainer
and coach. We are confident he will be more than happy to share his expertise with our
National teams and especially our young players.
23.11.2009 – Appointment of Finance & Admin. Executive
We are pleased to announce that Mr Jason Ong Jia Sheng has been appointed to the position of
Finance & Admin, Executive with effect from 1st November 2009. We welcome Mr Jason Ong
onboard and we look forward to his positive contributions.
23.11.2009 – Singapore Chess Federation – Meet the Parents Session
This dialogue seesion will be held in conjunction with the 28th National Age Group Chess
Championships 2010 on Saturday 2 January 2010 at 9.30 am at the Northland Primary School.
This is another of our initiatives to engage our stakeholders on the way forward for the
Federation and our athletes. The Executive Council of the federation will like to hear from
parents how we can better promote chess and sustain the interest of our players both
young and old. Our HPE (Sport Excellence) sub-committee will share with you our national
junior training programs. If you have feedback or questions you like to be shared at the dialogue
session, you may want to write to the Executive Director at singchess@pacific.net.sg
All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
22.11.2009 – National Youth / Junior Squad Training for Term 1 (2010)
Registration is now open for 2009 National Youth and Junior Squad Members.
Check out details in our National Training Column. All others will have to qualify from the
National Age Group Championships 2010 or National Schools Individual
Championships 2010.

8.10.2009 – National Junior Squad / Youth Squad – Term 4/2009
Due to the schools’ final year end examinations, there will not be any training for the weekends of 23,24,25 October and 30,31 October and 1 November 2009. Training will resume on 6, 7 and 8 November 2009. All trainees are to take note and inform their parents as appropriate.
