Our Children’s Day Celebrations Chess Challenge was jointly organized by the
Federation and the Civil Service Club @ Tessensohn.  Held simultaneously
together on Sunday 27 September 2009 were the Celebrating Seniors and Veterans
Championships 2009. Both events record increased participation this year when
260 signed for the Children’s Day event whilst 23 participants took part in the
senior’s event which drew 6 participants last year.
The mood was fiesta-like with the staff at Civil Service Club putting up a
bazaar selling kids toys and stationery, honey, t-shirts and even birds nest.
The organizers would like to thank Mr Siow Itming for sponsoring the Challenge
Trophy and prizes for the Children’s Day event. Following up on
this, yet another kind parent offered to purchase a portable A3 printer so that
we could print ‘better and bigger’ pairing list.
We invite other parents and friends to help us in our effort to organize more
events for the chess fraternity.
