Dear Friends of Chess, The SCF Exco thought it appropriate at this time – still early in 2012 and close to the festive season – to send a message of greeting to SCF members, juniors, parents and the Singapore Chess Fraternity as a whole. In doing so, we take the opportunity to outline our vision for 2012 and coming years.
Chess is an exercise of infinite possibilities for the mind, one which develops mental abilities used throughout life: concentration, critical thinking, abstract reasoning, problem solving, pattern recognition, strategic planning, creativity, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation, to name a few.
SCF Chess Trainers have many years of national and international playing experiences and many years of teaching experiences in Singapore, with a proven record in achieving results with all levels of players. SCF Chess Trainers are FIDE (World Chess Federation) certified and licenced to train. They posses by far the most extensive knowledge on the SCF National Junior & Youth Squads trainees and methods used to improve individual performances.

Members of the SCF Exco will be holding a dialogue session with parents and players at 2pm, Serangoon Garden Community Club (SGCC), on the day of the Hong Bao Rapid (Sunday 29 Jan 12). All are welcome.
