Organizers: The event is organized by the Singapore Chess Federation, and Serangoon CC. Played under the FIDE Laws of Chess. This is a non FIDE-Rated event.

Playing Venue: The Serangoon CC, Serangoon North Avenue 2, Singapore 555877

Closing Date:Sunday, 28 Aug 2016 by 6 pm. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Team Composition and Board Order:

  1. A team may consist of up to 5 players (4 + 1 substitute). The team shall be listed in a fixed order before the 1st round begins. Substitute players always play on the last board. For each wrong playing sequence in the team, a default of 1 point shall be awarded to the opposing team.

  2. The first named team in each pairing shall have White on the odd-numbered boards, and Black on the even numbered boards.

Entry Fees:

  1. $150 per team (Rapid & Blitz)
  2. $140 per School Team or North East / Serangoon Team (Rapid & Blitz)
  3. $120 per team (Rapid Only)
  4. $110 per School Team or North East / Serangoon Team (Rapid Only)
  5. $80 per team (Blitz Only)

*Discount is only applicable to teams with ALL members playing in BOTH events.

(1) RAPID EVENT

1. Categories:

  1. Open Under 10 – Players born in 2006 and after
  2. Open – Players born in 2005 and before

The organizers reserve the right to combine sections with less than 8 teams ; changes the time control or number of rounds, and number of qualifying teams depending on number of teams in each sections.

2. Schedule:

3. Time Control & Format:

Each player shall be given 15 minutes with 10 seconds increment, starting from move 1 to complete the game. Each match shall be contested over 4 boards (games). All teams are required to complete all rounds.

4. Results & Recording:

  1. A player must keep a proper record of their games, failing which, they shall have no right of claim in the case of a dispute.

  2. Upon the completion of a match, both Captains shall submit the duly signed results sheets to the arbiter in charge. When there is a walkover, it is to be indicated on the result sheet. All results on the results sheet shall stand and cannot be changed once submitted.

  3. Scoring is marked by 1 point for a won game, ½ for a draw, and 0 for a loss. The team receiving a BYE shall be awarded 2 Game Points, and 1 Match Point. The team with the highest Game Points shall be declared the winner.

  4. In the case of a tie, it shall be resolved by (a) Match Points; (b) Results between the teams involved; (c) Sum of the Game Points of all the team's opponent.

  5. FIDE ZERO START rule shall apply. A team conceding a walkover shall not be paired for the next round, and the arbiter must be consulted before the team can be reinstated for subsequent rounds.

i. Prizes shall be awarded according to the following:

ii. The top Open Team shall win the Serangoon Challenge Trophy.

iii. The top Under-10 Team shall win the David Tay's Challenge Trophy.

    1st - $160 ; 2nd - $120 ; 3rd - $100 ; 4th - $80 ; 5th - $40
   
    Cash Prizes shall be awarded to the Top 3 teams in the Open Category:
    1st - $500 ; 2nd - $300 ; 3rd - $200

6. Other Information:

  1. Any player found prompting would be disqualified from the tournament, and no replacement shall be allowed.

  2. On the completion of the game, players must leave the Playing Area, except for the Team Captain who has the responsibility of supervising his/her team.

  3. No analysis of friendly games are allowed in the Playing Hall.

  4. The use of mobile phones or electronic devices is prohibited in the Playing Hall. Any ring or sound arising from such devices belonging to the player during the game shall be an immediate loss without appeal.

  5. Pairings and Team List shall be posted on the SCF website: www.singaporechess.org.sg.

(2) BLITZ EVENT

1. Category: Open – Open to all.
