As part of the National Day Chess Festival 2016
Organizers: The event is organized by the Singapore Chess Federation, and Bukit Merah Community Centre. Played under the FIDE Laws of Chess. FIDE Rated Event.
Categories & Format:
There shall be two categories:
(A) OPEN – FIDE Rating 1601 and above
(B) CHALLENGERS – FIDE Rating 0 to 1600
Swiss System of 9 rounds.
Each players shall be given 15 minutes with 10 seconds increment from Move 1.
The Championships are open to all players with FIDE IDs. Only Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) will be eligible to be National Champions.
Singaporeans / SPRs without a FIDE ID can register for an ID with the Singapore Chess Federation. A one-time admin fee shall be charged for new FIDE IDs (Juniors ages below 20 - $30 ; Adults ages 20 & above - $60).
Please check correctness of entry on www.singaporechess.org.sg as we may not make changes on the day of the tournament.
Prizes:
(A) OPEN
1st - $200 ; 2nd - $150 ; 3rd - $100 ; 4th to 8th - $50 each
Trophies for Top 15, and Top 3 ladies.
(B) CHALLENGERS
1st - $200 ; 2nd - $150 ; 3rd - $100
Trophies for Top 10, and Top 3 ladies.
Cash prizes shall be shared, in the event of a tie on points.

Entry Fees: $50 (Public) ; $40 (Current National Junior Squad Members)

Closing Date:
Sun, 31 Jul 2016 by 6 pm, or first 200 entries.
Entries without payment will not be accepted. Late entries will not be entertained.
In the event of a withdrawal, entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
In the event of any disputes (outside the FIDE Laws of Chess), the Organizer's decision shall be final, and no further correspondence shall be entertained. FIDE ZERO START rule shall apply. Please check website regularly for updates. All participating NJS members are to be in their red SCF training shirt.
