Due to low participation rate, the 1st Singapore Scholastic Chess Championship for Above 12 categories will be cancelled.

All paid participants can obtain the full refund from the SCF office after 10 Aug 2014.

Organizers
Co-Organised by the Singapore Chess Federation and Bukit Merah Community Centre, played under the FIDE Laws of Chess and the following rules:

Categories
a) Open U14/U16/OPEN ; b) Girls U14/U16

Attire
All participants must be dressed in school attire or PE attire, except for pre-schoolers / homeschoolers / private schools.

Eligibility
Participants must be of Age under-20 as at 1st January 2014. Over-aged participants shall be disqualified with no appeals.
All Participants are required to be a registered student of a school in Singapore. Home Schoolers with MOE certified proof of authorization will be allowed to participate as well. The Singapore Chess Federation reserves the right to reject or accept entry/entries.

Venue
Bukit Merah Community Centre, 4000 Jalan Bukit Merah, Singapore 159465

Time Limit
25 minutes per player to complete a game. FIDE Rule on Zero Start shall apply - any player who arrives at the chessboard after the start of the session shall lose the game. Thus the default time is 0 minutes. The player must request to be reinstated for the next round as defaulter shall be removed immediately from the pairing list.

System
Swiss system of 7 rounds. Recording of moves is optional. Players not recording shall have no right of claim in a dispute.
In the case of tie for first place, a playoff shall be played immediately between the two highest placed players based on tiebreak.

The playoff shall be conducted under 5-minutes Blitz Rules and in the case of a further tie, the player with the higher tiebreak is declared the winner. In case of a further tie and ties for other positions, WP, SB and PS shall be used in this order.

Prizes
Medals will be awarded to the Top 10 positions in each category. Depending on the number of participants, the Organizing Committee may announce at the start of the Championships if additional medals will be awarded. Prizes not collected at the prize presentation shall be forfeited.

Disputes
Any disputes arising from a game shall be referred to the Section Arbiter or Chief Arbiter. An appeal to the Appeals Committee may be lodged (accompanied by an appeal fee of $100, refundable if the appeal is upheld) in writing within 15 minutes of the completion of the relevant playing session. The ruling of the Appeals Committee is final and no further correspondences shall be entertained.

Entry Fee: $50.00
Cash or Cheque Payment at SCF (cash or cheque payment), and Bukit Merah CC (cheque payment only).
If by cheque to be made payable to Singapore Chess Federation.

Qualifying Event for National Junior Squad Training Term 4/2014 – Refer to SCF Selection & Training Guidelines.

Closing Date: Friday, 01 Aug 2014 by 6 pm, or First 200 entries with a maximum of 90 entries for each Open Category and 30 entries for each Girls Category. All entries are based on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.
A SURCHARGE OF $50 SHALL BE LEVIED ON LATE ENTRIES. Withdrawals shall not be refunded.
